Recover deleted files in Google Drive

If you want to recover a deleted file in Google Drive (including the Google Drive desktop or mobile apps), check out the following tips. Recover from Bin/Trash Recently deleted files go to the Trash/Bin folder in your Google Drive and from here you can restore them within 30 days. Simply right click on the file you want to recover and click Restore. Please note that Shared Drives have separate Trash/Bin folders, so if you're looking for a file removed from a Shared Drive, make sure to switch to the relevant Bin folder. If the file you're looking for is missing, then it may have been permanently deleted or just hiding in your Drive. Use these advanced searches to locate lost files. Recover a permanently deleted file in Google Drive Your Google Workspace admin can restore permanently deleted files and folders - but only for a limited time. Contact your admin if you want to recover a file permanently deleted in the last 25 days - after that, files and folders are cleared from the Google system and can no longer be recovered. If you're using a personal account, not managed by your company or school, contact Google for help. You must be the owner of the file or folder you are looking to recover. Google Vault Although Google Vault is not designed as a backup solution, if your organization is using Google Vault, you may be able to recover data subject to retention rules or holds past the 25 days period. Contact your administrator to find out if the file can be retrieved via Google Vault. There are also independent solutions to backup your Google Workspace data, including Google Drive data. These services will store your Google Workspace data in a private cloud or with a different vendor such as Amazon. Check out some of our favourites back up solutions for Google Workspace.
