Google+ is a perfect ready made solution for undertaking micro-surveys and straw polls.

You know Google+ is great for loads of things but have you ever considered it as a way of undertaking micro-surveys or straw polls? Whether you want to find out which pub your colleagues want to go to for Friday beers or something more serious and work related then Google+ is a perfect ready made solution. You write a comment and your team members reply with their comments to get the ball rolling, then you ask people to +1 the comment that corresponds to their answer and if they don't see their answer, they can add it as a comment.

By the nature of +1, respondents only get to vote once for each comment so there’s no vote rigging, but they can vote for multiple comments too, if they want to. You can also disable comments and thereby manage what people are ‘bringing to the party’ if you prefer. It’s a flexible and brilliantly simple way to ‘ask the audience’ which could provide some really interesting and potentially useful info. We had a go - check out our Google Apps Wishlist for 2014.

Next time you need to carry out a micro-survey, give it a try using Google+ and let us know how you get on in the comments section below.

TIP UPDATE: Google+ now has built in Polls. When adding a post look for the Poll icon, choose your Poll and send it to your audience.
