Google Sheets just got smarter with the option to colour code your charts to emphasise your data

This new feature allows you to assign a colour to set data, so you can bring your charts to life. Unlike before where all the elements used to share the same colour, you can now highlight a certain area of your chart helping your data to stand out. Use this feature across bar charts, line graphs and scatter diagrams in Sheets.

In sheets:

Once you’ve created your chart > right click on the bar chart you’d like to highlight > choose ‘Format data point’.
