Copy formatting from one slide to multiple others with the time-saving paint format tool

This handy shortcut will save you time and make life easier when working in Google Slides. The paint format tool makes it quick and easy to copy formatting from one object (like text, headings or a shape) to multiple others in Google Slides.

Previously, you could use the tool to copy formatting, however, you had to re-click it every time you wanted to apply it to a new object. Now, you can simply double-click the tool icon to enter “persistent” mode.

Here’s how you do it:

  • Highlight the format you want to copy within your slide
  • Click the Paint Format icon or double click to enter persistent mode
  • Highlight/paint the areas you want to format
  • When you’re finished, re-click the icon or tap Escape on your keyboard to stop
