Change Owner

Bulk change the ownership of your Drive Files
When you create or upload a file to your Google Drive, you are the owner of it by default and if you want to, you can share files with others one by one. However, sometimes you may want to transfer the ownership of a large number of files and folders, for example if someone leaves your organisation.
This can be a time-consuming task, especially since Google Drive only currently offers an ‘all or nothing option’ to transfer ownership of files to another account. The Google Drive Change Owner tool lets you change the ownership of a large number of selected files and folders, rather than change ownership of everything.
It just takes a few clicks. All you have to do is select the top level folder and specify the new owner, then Hit ‘Process’. Job done!
Guidance notes
- The files must be owned by the signed in user.
- The new owner must have an email address on the same domain.
- If you are using a Gmail account you can only change ownership of folders and Google file types, files that cannot be changed are unselectable in the tree.
- Once this tool has run the folder tree will refresh to show the ownership change.
- This tool does not notify the new owner.
